Weingut Siegloch wines are dynamic, innovative, and rooted in a deep family tradition of respect for nature. Brothers David and Markus Siegloch took over the family winery in 2014 after their father died in the midst of their winemaking studies. David studied Enology and Viticulture at Geisenheim University while Markus focused on viticulture. The two carried on their father’s diligent care of the vineyard which is home to several beloved varieties, including centenarian Cabernet Franc vines. David and Markus’ sustainable and vigilant farming practices produce the highest quality grapes which require very little intervention in the process of becoming wine.
Weingut Siegloch pioneered the low intervention style of winemaking which begins in the vineyard, emphasizes the grape and its growing season, and ends with unfiltered, unfined, and unbelievably delicious wines. David and Markus are what we call Grapekeepers: artists who maintain the quality and integrity of carefully farmed fruit by patiently shepherding the grapes into the bottle.
Tupetz Connection: Our founder Lisa Tupetz met David in 2009 during their studies at Geisenheim University. “David is one of the smartest people I’ve ever met. There’s nothing he can’t do – he doesn’t give up and always finds ways to get things done with care and efficiency,” says Lisa. David’s wines are totally unique and distinct, a real taste of handwerk.
